Maurice Milton McDaniel
(March 25, 1925 - February 21, 2014)

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Maurice Milton McDaniel, 88, of Seminary who passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Elder Gary Bridges and Elder Doug Barber will officiate at the services with interment to follow at the Smyrna Landmark Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Music will be provided by Susan Deen, Shannon Napier, Josh Deen, and Barbara Brister. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Stacy Gandy, Scott Gandy, Steve Bryant, Dusty Bryant, Drew McDaniel, Josh Deen, Adam Deen, and Trent McDaniel. Honorary pallbearer will be Jason McNeil.

Mr. McDaniel, a Covington County native, was the retired owner and operator of McDaniel Construction. He worked in the construction business for over forty years. Mr. McDaniel was a member of the Smyrna Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Seminary. He also served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Douglas McDaniel and Lena Mae Russell McDaniel; one son, Billy McDaniel; two brothers, Carlos McDaniel and Frank McDaniel; and four sisters, Mildred Pitts, Myrtis Graves, Bonnie Davis, and Edna Matheny.

Survivors include his wife of sixty nine years, Verdee Graves McDaniel of Seminary; two sons, Larry McDaniel (Sue) of Greenville, South Carolina and Terry Wayne McDaniel (Lana) of Seminary; four daughters, Sandra Anglin (James Earl) of Collins, Janice Bryant of Collins, Judy Netto (Charlie) of Seminary, and Susan Deen (Ricky) of Seminary; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign an online guest book at www.billymkingcolonialchapel.com.
