Maurice A. Norcross, 84,

Newtown Square resident World War II vet

Maurice A. Norcross, 84, of Newtown Square, died July 13 at White Horse Village.

Mr. Norcross served in the 166th Field Artillery Battalion under Gen. George Patton during World War II, reaching the rank of captain.

He was a reservist after the war and was a lieutenant colonel when he retired after 20 years.

Mr. Norcross was born in Lansdowne and graduated from Lansdowne High School.

He sold construction materials to contractors and retired to White Horse Village 11 years ago.

Mr. Norcross was a member of the Upper Darby VFW.

Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Mary Corley Norcross sons, William C. Norcross of Media daughter, Mary Elizabeth Norcross Post of West Milford, N.J. sister, Rosemary Stout of Downingtown four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Toppitzer Funeral Home, Garrett Road and Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill.

Visitation: After noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial: Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
