HAUSSER

Maurine Sasser Hausser, age 86, died at home February 11, 2009. She was born March 5, 1922 in Garyville, Louisiana. Mrs. Sasser was the daughter of the late Audrey Jones Sasser and Alexander Ford Sasser.

She spent her early years in Nixon, Texas and later on her family ranch near Moore, Texas. Prior to her marriage she taught school and even drove the school bus for the Yancey, Texas School District.

She attended Saint Mary's Hall, Sophie Newcomb and The University of Texas in Austin where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Mrs. Hausser was an active civic leader throughout her life in San Antonio. She was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church for sixty years. She was a past president of The Battle of Flowers Association, The Alamo Heights-Terrell Hills Garden Club, The Women of Saint Luke's, The Fenwick Club and The Forum and was a member of the Jr. League of San Antonio and The Military Civilian Club.

Mrs. Hausser will be remembered for her kindness to others, gracious hospitality, courage, optimism, warm smile and her love for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Hausser, her sons Robert Hausser Jr. and wife Christine, Albert Ford Hausser and wife Meta, William Stephen Hausser and wife Susan and her grandchildren William Stephen Hausser, Jr., Amelia Grace Hausser, Albert Ford Hausser, Jr., and Robert Hausser, III, Sister-in-law Augusta Sasser Matthews, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brother Alexander Ford Sasser.
