Maurine Stovall McCarty
SHREVEPORT -- Mrs. Maurine Stovall McCarty, 93, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in Glen Retirement Village.
Mrs. McCarty was born Nov. 9, 1910, in Winn Parish. She was a former resident of Rayville for 26 years and resident of Shreveport for the past 34 years. She was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, where she was active in many church groups. Mrs. McCarty was a retired case worker for the Louisiana Department of Welfare.
Mrs. McCarty was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin McCarty; and her parents, Dennis and Louella Gaar Stovall. She is survived by her children, David McCarty and wife Glenda of Lake Charles, Dan McCarty and wife Missie of Houston, and Charlotte Fowler and husband Dick of Richardson, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jackie Carleton, Janie Duplechin, Julie Micallef, John David McCarty, Scott McCarty, Molly McCarty, Richard Fowler and Suzonne Fowler; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sarah Fouts, Evelyn Finuf and Carlotta Ferguson and husband, R.A.; and three sisters-in-law, Ada Stovall, Audie Stovall and Katherine Smith.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. today, April 15, in Broadmoor United Methodist Church. The Rev. George Pearce Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be made to the Broadmoor United Methodist Church or the charity of donor's choice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Fowler, John David McCarty, Scott McCarty, Mike Carleton and Keith Duplechin.
