Mavis Flowers Cockerham
Mavis Flowers Cockerham, 93, of Trout, passed from this life on Friday, April 8, 2011, at the LaSalle Nursing Home of Jena.
She was born July 18, 1917 in Jena to the union of her parents, Monroe and Mary Elliott Flowers.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 10 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena with the Revs. Gary Wagoner and Glen Roark officiating.
Interment followed in the Taylor Chapel Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers, Inc. of Jena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey A. Cockerham; grandson, Reginald Allen Cockerham; parents; sister, Audie Roark; and three brothers, Prior Monroe, Shell Flowers and Moses Flowers.
Survivors include one son, Ronald ``Tom'' Cockerham and wife Lynda of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Susan Breland and husband Bill of Jena, Robyn Cockerham of Baton Rouge, and Allen Cockerham and wife Ashley of Trout; and two great grandchildren, Olivia Breland and Charlie Breland, both of Jena.
Pallbearers were Ronald Allen Cockerham, Jr., Mark McCartney, Ryan Smith, Joe Peppers, Hensley Garlington and Shane Joy.
