Maxine Mays
Funeral service for Maxine Boyd Mays, 71, of Winnsboro will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 24, 2015 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. David Mixon, Rev. Ron Ferrington and Rev. Frances Guy officiating. Burial will follow in Ogden Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9-11 AM at the funeral home.
She was born to Elbert Lee and Nancy Gertrude Coleman Boyd on September 28, 1943 in Jonesville and passed from this life, Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in Mary Anna Nursing Home in Wisner.
Mrs. Mays, a graduate of Odgen High School, was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Brashier Earle before becoming ward clerk at Franklin Medical Center. She enjoyed spending time outdoors doing yard work and caring for her flower gardens. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Angela Glass; and four brothers Billy Boyd, Buddy Boyd, Harvey Boyd and Charles Boyd.
Mrs. Mays is survived by a son and daughter-in-law John Dallas and Tammy Mays of West Monroe; grand children Nancy Mays of Wisner, Tyler Glass of Bedford, TX, Lucas Mays of West Monroe, Janet Benton of Rayville and Jessica Thomas of Winnsboro and six great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law Wayne and Margaret Boyd of Liddieville and Johnny and Diane Boyd of Antioch, TN; sister Carolyn Boyd of Winnsboro; two sisters-in-law Onie Parker of Winnsboro and Glenda Boyd of Liddieville; her faithful canine companion Prissy; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Randy Boyd, Garrett Dye, Tyler Glass, Skipper Hill and Lucas Mays.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Tom Colvin, Hospice TLC and Mary Anna Nursing Home.
