Maxine Sawyer Richardson

Maxine Sawyer Richardson, born Nov. 27, 1918, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, died Sunday, May 17, 2009.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Raneta and Donald H. Riddle; son and daughter-in-law, Harry ``Rusty'' D. Richardson Jr. and Peggy A. Richardson; grandsons, Chesney and Grayson Richardson; stepgrandchildren, Kimberly Lanka and husband Brian, and Shawn T. Riddle; and step-great-grandson, Gavin Lanka.

Preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Richardson; two infant grandchildren, Aubrey and Sarah Frances Richardson; parents, Emy and Percy Sawyer; and sister, Frances Neta Mayfield.

She was a retired teacher having taught at the lab schools of Southeastern, Louisiana Tech and LSU as well as at Highland Elementary in East Baton Rouge Parish. She was a member of University Baptist Church, PEO Chapter C, bridge clubs and a Tuesday afternoon group of dear friends who have met in each other's homes for more than 30 years.

To honor her request, following visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, there will be a private family graveside service.
