Mayo LaCroix Killed by Train

On Friday evening, April 17, 1914, Mr. Mayo LaCroix, aged about 45 years, was killed at Ball's Spur, near Pollock, in a horrible manner by being run over by a log train. His body was mangled almost beyond recognition. It is supposed he slipped and fell between the tender and log cars, eight of which passed over his body. He was a member of Pollock Lodge F. & A. M., the W. O. W. and Odd Fellows, and was a good representative citizen.

He leaves a wife and nine children and many other relatives to mourn his utimely [sic untimely] fate.

Funeral services were held at the home of the deceased Sunday at 3:30 p.m., and Monday morning his remains were taken to Pineville and buried in the Methodist cemetery, where fraternal funeral rites were conducted by Oliver Lodge 84 F. & A. M. and the W. O. W. and Odd Fellows of Pollock, in the presence of many friends and relatives.
