Melford Leon McGee
MABANK - Melford Leon ``Mac'' McGee, 71, who was a retired 16-year General Motors Company employee in Arlington, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at his home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Foster & Brown Funeral Home in Athens. Burial: Athens City Cemetery. Rev. Charlie Woodward will officiate. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. McGee was born July 24, 1926, in Athens, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Della Mae Willis McGee.
He was a Marine, and served during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Shriners, the Scottish Rites in Dallas, the 441 Masonic Lodge in Garland, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign War.
He was preceded in death by his father; and twin granddaughters.
Pallbearers: Members from the Athens Masonic Lodge No. 165.
Honorary pallbearers will be close friends.
Survivors: Wife of 50 years, Bettye J. McGee of Mabank; sons and daughter-in-law, Edward Leon and Sandra McGee of Arlington, Larry Gene McGee of Palm Springs, Calif., David Wayne McGee of Austin; grandchildren, Arron McGee of the Navy, Shannon McGee, Justin McGee, both of Arlington; mother, Della Mae Brawley of Garland; and brother, Edward Willis McGee of Athens.
