M. V. Willis, 35, Dallas Drowned

Dallas relatives were informed of the drowning Thursday at Laredo of M. V. Willis, 35, of 4426 Holland avenue. Reports said the body had not been recovered from the Rio Grande.

Surviving Mr. Willis are his mother, Mrs. Sallie Willis, 4426 Holland avenue; three sisters, Mrs. E. A. Chamberlin of Duncan, Ok., Mrs. Gracie L. Carroll and Mrs. W. C. Heigert, and a brother, Ben Willis, all of Dallas.

Drowning Victim's Body Is Sent Home

The body of Melford Willis, 35, of 4426 Holland avenue, who drowned Thursday in the Rio Grande near Laredo, will arrive in Dallas at 5:35 p.m. Saturday. The body was recovered from the river Friday.

Mr. Willis stepped into the river and was swept away by the strong current while he was on a fishing party with a group of friends. He was in the oil business and made his headquarters in Dallas while not in the fields.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Sallie Willis; three sisters, Mrs. W. C. Heigert and Mrs. Gracie L. Carroll, all of Dallas, and Mrs. A. E. Chamberlin of Duncan, Ok., and a brother, Ben Willis of Dallas.
