Services Held For Mrs. Corley

Funeral services for Mrs. Mellie Ryland Corley, 83, of 150 Norwood Drive, who died at 4:45 p.m. Friday in Schumpert Hospital, were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Hix[s]on Brothers Funeral Home, Alexandria.

Dr. R. Houston Smith and the Rev. Thomas Vanarsdall officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville.

A longtime resident of Rapides Parish, she moved to Shreveport several months ago to live with her daughter, Mrs. Omera Windham, because of illness.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy C. Edmonds and Mrs. Omera Windham of Shreveport, Mrs. Ruby Slocum of Alexandria and Mrs. Mary Norcross of Landsdown, Penn.; two brothers Earl Ryland of Alexandria and A. L. Ryland of Pineville; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Roy Ryland, Darby Ryland, Elton Ryland, Johnny Davis, Raymond Barton, and Joe Nabors.
