Melville Buckley Sibley

Jan. 31, 1919 -- June 30, 2002

FERRIDAY, La. -- Services for Melville Buckley Sibley, 83, of Ferriday, who died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Mary Anna Nursing Home in Wisner, will be at 2 p.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Gray and Russell Crum officiating.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Comer Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Mr. Sibley was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Koran, La., the son of John Robert and Agnes Buckley Sibley.

He was a sales tax collector for the State Department of Revenue, was a member of First Baptist Church in Ferriday, a hunter and fisherman and was a charter member of the Rifle Point Hunting Club. He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Sibley was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John R. Sibley and Paul Sibley; and an aunt, Linda Dubuisson.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie Crum Sibley of Ferriday; one son, John ``Rick'' Sibley of Monterey; two daughters, Karen Endres of Muenster, Texas, and Susan Tompkins of Houma, La.; one stepson, James Dinger of Natchez; two stepdaughters, Gloria Blake of Houston and Leah Dupree of Ferriday; one brother, Charles R. Sibley of Ferriday; one sister, Irma Lee Sibley Tucker of Ferriday; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Dupree, Stephen Sibley, Richard Sibley, Chris Dupree, Jacob Endres, Jason Dinger, Michael Tompkins, Andre Klibert, Adam Klibert and Alexander Klibert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Robertson and T.D. Taunton.
