Memorial service for Melvin “Donald Ray” Maples, of Vidalia, Louisiana will be Friday, June 29, 2018 at Young's Funeral Home-Ferriday at 12 pm. The family will recieve friends Friday at the funeral home from 10 am until 12 pm.

Donald Ray was born November 16, 1940 and passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 in Vidalia, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Billy Jane Maples, parents, Sally and Butler Maples; six sisters, and two brothers.

Survivors included: two sons, Marvin Randall Maples of Natchez, MS and Melvin “Rusty” Maples, Jr. and wife Donna of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Glynda Cain and husband Jeffery of Vidalia and Lynda Whittington and husband Michael of Bunkie; eight grandchildren, Miranda Maples and Amanda Maples, Jimmy and William Stone, Zachary and Ruston Maples, Elizabeth Wallace, Tori Wallace and Adam Holmes; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
