Girlinghouse Sr., Melvin W.

A retired auto mechanic, he died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 57, a resident and native of Baton Rouge, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam who was awarded the Purple Heart. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, on Friday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m., conducted by family and friends. Inurnment in Port Hudson National Cemetery.

He is survived by his two daughters, Tammy Parrish of Pride and Melissa Broussard of Youngsville; two sons, Charles Lasseigne of Baton Rouge and Melvin W. Girlinghouse Jr. of Port Allen; two sisters, Guvie Coolman and Kattye Keller, both of Denham Springs; two brothers, Jerry Girlinghouse of Baker and Roger Girlinghouse of Boeing, Texas; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guvie and Grace Townsend Girlinghouse; and brother, Matt Girlinghouse.
