MCCARTY, MERLE BICKFORD A retired registered nurse and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died Monday, March 1, 2004, at 1:20 p.m. at her son's residence in Denham Springs. She was 87 and a native of Tangipahoa Parish.
Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, and in the chapel from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2004. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Survived by a daughter, Deborah McCarty, Knoxville, Tenn.; a son, Shile D. McCarty Jr., Denham Springs; a sister, Juanita Rodriguez, Baton Rouge; and numerous nephews and great-nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Shile D. McCarty Sr.; two brothers, Elmer and Glen Bickford; a sister, Thelma Hennigan; and parents, Frank Benjamin and Corine Odetta Wascome Bickford.
