Mr. Merlon V. Dunn

Shreveport, LA - Funeral services celebrating the life of Merlon “Monk” Dunn, 89, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Minister Darwin Hunter. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Merlon was born on April 1, 1927 in Kelly, LA and passed away on April 6, 2016 in Shreveport, LA after a short illness. He had a successful career in sales, retiring from Ruston Industrial Sawmill Supply.
Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Dunn; daughters, Suzanne Dunn and Caroline Dunn; parents, Creston Dunn and Rowena Hanchey Dunn; stepmother, Eula Johnson Dunn; brothers, Rupert and Curtis Dunn; sisters, Myrtle Sanders and stepsister, Nelda Linn.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Merlon are his two sons, Richard and wife Sara of Foley, AL and David and wife Carolyn of Ida, LA; two granddaughters, Catherine Smith and husband Wayne and Andrea Walters and husband Daniel; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Billy Dunn and wife Palmayra of Lithuania, Johnny Johnson and wife Rita of Vivian, LA; sisters, Geraldine Sherman and Amanda Dannehl and husband Dennis of Columbia, LA, Marilyn Fore of Pineville, LA and Kathryn Willis of Monroe, LA. Mr. Dunn is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including, Pat Johnson and husband Patrick of Shreveport, LA.
