Merritt Evans
BIG ROCK -- Merritt Evans, 62, formerly of Big Rock, died Feb. 17, 1972 in Delhi, La.
Mr. Evans was born Sept. 2, 1909 in Big Rock, the son of Levi and Tillie Mathwig Evans. He was educated in the Big Rock schools and in 1928 he married Pauline Dodson and she died in 1948. He was married to Ruby Whitten on July 14, 1949.
His widow survives, also three sons, Edward R., Ray F., and Darrel R. Evans, all of Big Rock; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, John F. and Perry Evans, both of Big Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Montague (Louise) Jones and Mrs. Edwin (Ella) Reese, both of Colton, Calif.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21 at the Big Rock Baptist Church with Pastor Terry A. Cole and the Rev. Earl H. King officiating. Burial will follow in West Big Rock cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Nash Memorial Chapel in Hinckley.
