Michael Edward Watson

Michael Edward Watson, 74, of Lufkin, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2014 at Memorial Hospital.

He was born on January 20, 1939, in Baytown, Texas to William Dale ‘W.D.’ and Olivette Watson. Mike graduated from Lufkin High School in 1957 and attended the University of Houston. He married Kathryn Jackson Watson on December 28, 1982 and worked for NASA and Techtronic Industries, eventually retiring in Lufkin. He enjoyed camping, cooking barbeque, bird-watching, and was an extra class amateur radio operator (W5UC) for over 50 years. He became a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas.

Mike is survived by his bride, Kathryn, and two daughters, Michelle Bowers and her husband Pat, and Heather Blasingame. He is also survived by grandson, James Roberts.

Honorary pallbearers include brother-in-law David Haggard, and nephews Jeremy Haggard, John ‘Rusty’ Jackson and Kyle Jackson.

The family will receive friends for an informal Celebration of Life on Friday January 17, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 106 S. Randolph Ave., Lufkin.
