The Rev. M. D. Morehead Jr.

YORKTOWN -- The Rev. Middleton Dunn Morehead Jr., 77, of Yorktown, died Saturday, May 5, 2001.

He was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Bay City [Matagorda County, Texas], to the late Middleton Sr. and Maime Louise Fisher. He was in the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII. He also served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala. He was a farmer and rancher in South Texas, as well as Venezuela and Colombia. He was an ordained minister, preaching in Baptist, Methodist and Assembly of God Churches throughout south and central Texas. He received a B.A. degree from Sul Ross State University, majoring in Sociology and minoring in Spanish. He was a founding member of Faith Christian Fellowship in Yorktown.

Survivors: wife, Carolyn Morehead; daughters, Carrie Louise Cavazos of Victoria and Wanda Ceanne Morehead Cox of Overland Park, Kan.; sons, Dr. Middleton Dunn Morehead III and E. Earl Morehead, both of Carrollton, Ga., Matthew Edward Morehead of Cuero and Mark Russell Morehead of Yorktown; sister, Joyce Louise Meyer of Colo.; brother, W.E. Morehead of Galveston; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: first wife, Dorothy Morehead; parents; step-mother, Violet Carrie Grisham; brothers, Bobby Morehead Harris and Charles Grisham Morehead; and one grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Christian Fellowship, the Rev. Tommy Remmers officiating.
