Mildred Beatrice Spradley
Funeral services for Mildred Beatrice Spradley, 89 of Deadwood, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John David Wiles and Jackie Lynn LaGrone officiating. Interment will follow at Deadwood Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Spradley died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at her home in Deadwood.
Mrs. Spradley was born July 20, 1918 in the Deadwood Community of Panola County. She was one of ten children born to the marriage of Allen Jackson and Etta Mae Plunkett LaGrone. She was raised and schooled in rural Deadwood later marrying Conway Nelson Spradley. Together Mildred and Conway raised two children in a loving Christian home and celebrated over 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 1983. She worked for the A&B Hatchery many years but dedicated her life to her Lord and family as a lifelong member of the Deadwood Pentecostal Church and as a loving homemaker to the family she cherished. She is also preceded in death by: brothers; Jackie and Emory LaGrone, sisters; Pauline Portman Dickerson, Mary LaGrone, Hazel LaGrone, Sallie Lane and Rosetta LaGrone.
Her survivors include loving children Sherman Spradley and wife Ann, of Deadwood, and Charlcye McFadden and husband Snokey, of Deadwood; brothers Charles LaGrone and wife Susie, of Lafayette, LA, and Willis LaGrone, of Deadwood; grandchildren Craig Wimberly, of Deadwood, Angela Raymond and husband Chuck, of Huxley, Kim Maynes and husband Brad, of Stonewall, LA, Sherman Spradley and wife Dana, of Carthage, Jennifer Spradley, of Joaquin, and Brenda Wimberly, of Deadwood; step-grandchildren Shane McFadden and wife Renee, of Shiloh, and Shelley Murff and husband Bryan, of Carthage; great-grandchildren Bridgette, Cody, Hunter, Wyatt, Toby, Alli, Sheldon and Brett; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Dale LaGrone, Bob Spradley, Sherman Spradley, Craig Wimberly, Stan Haynes, Garth LaGrone, Darrell LaGrone and Johnny Ray.
Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Hawthorn Funeral Home.
The family requests memorials be made to the Deadwood United Pentecostal Church.
