Mildred McCarty

Mildred Cotten McCarty, 93 passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is after 3pm today at Lakewood Funeral Home; suite service is 4:30 today with interment following in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. McCarty was born in Illinois in 1917. Her parents are the late Howard and Henerietta (McDaniel) Cotten. She was employed with Gulf Oil Company in Houston, Texas and Laurel, MS for many years. She was a longtime resident of Laurel before moving to Clinton in 1992. She was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church and attended the Evelyn Gibson Sunday school class as long as her health allowed. Upon moving to Clinton, Mildred became a resident of Trace Pointe Retirement Village. Her family said she absolutely enjoyed living there and had made many special friends there. Her sister said she was a loving wife, sister, and friend.

Mrs. MaCarty [sic McCarty] was preceded in death by the love of her life for over 40 years, Lamar “Mac” McCarty. She leaves behind her sister Joy Ainsworth (Don) of Clinton, a brother Ben Cotten of Jackson, and many nieces and nephews.
