Mildred Louise Oakley

Mildred Louise Oakley, 93, passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Ridgeview Health Care Center in Jasper. Everyone who knew and loved her will agree that it would be difficult to find a kinder, gentler creature. While her husband, C.B., provided protection and strength to the family unit, Mildred provided boundless love and a playful spirit. Originally from Bibb County, Mildred and her husband established their home in the Gorgas community around 1939 where they raised their two children. She provided a warm, loving home for her family and selfless giving to her friends at church, the Eastern Star Organization, and all her other friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be from 9 until 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Walker Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Cary B. Oakley Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Annie (Jim Parsons) of Lakeland, Fla.; son, Carey B. Jr. (Joyce Adcock)--of Gorgas; seven grandchildren and one “adopted” granddaughter, Katie; seven great-grandchildren; as well as several devoted nieces and nephews.
