MILDRED LOVIE MCDONALD MERCER

SAN ANGELO - Mildred Lovie McDonald Mercer was born Nov. 13, 1911, in Harrisonburg, La., to Annie Eliza and Charles Marshall McDonald. She was the youngest daughter of nine children.

Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with James Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Montvale Cemetery in Sterling City.

She married Houston Oliver Mercer on July 11, 1931, and they had two children, Charles Houston and Joanne.

She became a nurse in the early 1950s and enjoyed caring for others.

As a woman of faith, she devoted her time and energy to teaching her Sunday school class, volunteering her time at the Christian Village (where she lived for 25 years), singing with the Melody Makers at Immanuel Baptist Church and helping others come to know the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston Mercer; son Charles Houston Mercer; her parents; and her eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Steele of San Angelo; daughter-in-law Sarah Mercer of Twin Falls, Idaho; grandchildren Patti Kirchner and husband Joe of Twin Falls, Idaho, Lynn Beauregard and husband Bob of Twin Falls, Idaho, Debbie Johnson and husband Bill of Kempner, Texas, Dana Mayfield and husband Brian of Austin, Texas, Ginny Fuchs and husband Todd of San Angelo, and Debbie Kytle and husband Kip of Twin Falls, Idaho; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Blanche Watson.
