Mildred Virginia Cantrell Hearn

SHREVEPORT, LA -- Mildred Virginia Cantrell Hearn passed from this life Sunday, June 12, 2011, surrounded by her three loving daughters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Lee Jenkins, Reverend Buster Page, and Reverend Calvin Cantrell. Interment will be at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. preceding the service.

She was born August 1, 1923, in Shreveport, the daughter of Carrie Youngblood and P. O. Cantrell. Mildred attended area schools and graduated from Fair Park High School in 1941. She met Tom Hearn, Jr. at Queensborough Baptist Church. She was his best friend and the love of his life. Tom and Mildred married in 1942, and enjoyed forty-eight wonderful years together. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother with a giving spirit. Mildred loved God and held her loved ones close as she prayed for them daily. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Mrs. Hearn was a faithful member of Queensborough/Willow Point Baptist Church for 79 years. She worked in the primary department and in the nursery for many years. She also was involved in the prayer ministry and touched many lives. Mildred was a wonderful cook and shared many meals with family and friends. During World War II, Mildred worked for the telephone company.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Charles Goodrich of Shreveport, Louisiana, Tommie and Kenneth Snyder of Marshall, Texas, and Paula and Reverend Lee Jenkins of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jeff Goodrich and wife Mary Beth, Carla Arteberry and husband Mike, Corey Goodrich and wife Anna, Jennifer Martin and husband David, Trey Snyder and wife Amy, Dr. Justin Horne and wife Jana, Dustin Snyder and fiancee Tzuen, Emelie Jenkins, Trinton Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Grant Goodrich, Josh Goodrich, Jacob Goodrich, Loren Gibson, Logan Gibson, Matthew Arteberry, Amanda Arteberry, Victoria Goodrich, Caleb Goodrich, Christian Goodrich, Paxton Martin, Jessica Martin, Will Horne, Ryan Horne, Lane Horne, Jack Snyder, Isabelle Snyder; sister, Wilda Barber and husband Grady; brother, Robert Cantrell and wife Dru; brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Hearn and wife Margie; sister-in-law, Gloria Hearn; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends she loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Watson Hearn, Jr.; parents, Carrie and P. O. Cantrell; father-in-law, Thomas Watson Hearn, Sr. and mother-in-law, May Peters Hearn; brothers-in-law, Charles Hearn and Dr. George Hearn; and nephews, Robert P. Cantrell and George Eugene Hearn.

The family would especially like to thank Linda, Cindy, and staff at Glenview Gardens of Bossier City, Dr. Paul Davis, St. Joseph Hospice, and Village Healthcare at the Glen. The family is also indebted to the caregivers at the Grace Home in Shreveport, Louisiana for the wonderful love and kindness shown to our mother in 2010 and 2011.

Pallbearers will be Mike Arteberry, Corey Goodrich, Jeff Goodrich, Dr. Justin Horne, Trinton Jenkins, David Martin, Dustin Snyder, and Trey Snyder.

Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Barber, Richard Barber, Robert Cantrell, Charles Goodrich, Reverend Lee Jenkins, Dr. Robert Hearn, Robert Hearn, Jr., and Kenneth Snyder.
