Minnie Ruth Brooks

Funeral services for Minnie Ruth Brooks, 63, of Winnsboro, were held on Wednesday, June 21, in the Chapel of Winnsboro First National Funeral Home.

Interment was in Myrtle Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Don Blackmon and the Rev. Debra Shevlin-Lee officiating.

She was retired from Civil Service, where she had worked as the executive secretary for the local board of Selective Service for the 27 1/2 years it was in Winnsboro. She died on June 19, 1989, following a brief illness.

Survivors include her husband, Sydney Brooks, Winnsboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Steven and James B. Steven of Crowville; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois Shephard and Bill Shephard, of Arlington, Texas; one granddaughter, Samantha Lene Steven, Crowville; her mother-in-law, Naomi Brooks, Winnsboro; one foster brother, the Rev. Don Blackmon, Fort Necessity; one foster sister, Jimmie Smith, Winnsboro; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Ron Smith, Syd Smith, Sam Shephard, Jeff Shepard, Tommy Blackmon and Rodney Blackmon.
