SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Mira Ann Smith will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 31, 1989 at the Wellman Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Jon Stubblefield of the First Baptist Church of Shreveport. Robert L. Lightsey will give the eulogy. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park.
Miss Smith died Tuesday, August 29, 1989 at Schumpert Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Alexandria, La., had resided in Nashville, Tenn., for 20 years and Shreveport for the past year. She was a Nashville Songwriter, a member of the Country Music Association and the Nashville Songwriters Association. Miss Smith was inducted into the Southern Songwriters Hall of Fame by the Songwriters Guild. She had received several outstanding achievement awards from BMI. Miss Smith had written songs for Jeanie C. Riley, Connie Francis, Dolly Parton, Porter Waggoner, Norvel Felts and others. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sisters, Birdie Lee Smith of Shreveport and Kathleen Smith Lanigan of Baton Rouge; one nephew, William A. Lanigan, III of Jackson, Miss.; one cousin, Arthur Alton Warwick of Shreveport.
Pallbearers will be William A. Lanigan, Jr., William A. Lanigan, III, Timothy D. Lanigan, Kevin M. Laningan, Lawrence Bamburg and Tommy Cassel.
