MRS. E. V. McDANIEL DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
After many days of suffering and a life made beautiful with service, the tired soul of ``Grandma'' McDaniel passed home to its maker Wednesday morning at seven o'clock at her home in the southwest part of town. Mrs. McDaniel had been very ill since December 5th when she suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she never recovered. As many of her children could reach her bedside came at a time of the paralytic stroke and both they and she realized that on account of her age and other complications she could not recover and she left a parting message and words of love and cheer for all.
Mirandy Jane McCarthy was born in 1843 and died January 13, 1926, being 82 years, five months and five days of age. Growing to young womanhood she was wooed and wed by John Harwell in 1861 who gave his life in service during the Civil War. One child was born to this union. In 1863 she married E.V. McDaniel and remained his true wife and constant companion for more than sixty years. In 1896 they with their family moved to Comanche at which place they have resided ever since.
Two of the greatest conflicts the world has ever known was enacted in commonwealth where she spent her last days.
This country was a virgin prairie where the buffalo roamed in majestic splendor when she first settled here.
Mrs. E.V. McDaniel was the mother of 13 children, 9 of which have lived to mourn her death. Henry McDaniel of this city is a foster son and raised from babyhood, when she found him one morning in a hotel in Carbon, Texas that she was operating at that time.
Farewell is a word often uttered lightly, but when spoken in the gathering twilight of life well lived, it seems to stick in the throat. Her host of friends and relatives who are left behind will be sustained and comforted in knowing that like those beautiful lines in Thanatopsis she passes on ``Not like the galley-slave, scourged to his dungeon, but sustained by that unfaltering trust she wrapped her robes around her and lay down as if in peaceful sleep''. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, E.V. McDaniel, 9 children, and 34 grandchildren, of which 30 are still living.
The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist church and interment was made in the local cemetery.

Ada Hunton, Comanche, Oklahoma; and Woody McDaniel of Comanche, Oklahoma; Isom McDaniel, Ardmore; and Henry McDaniel of Comanche.
The grandchildren are: Mrs. Walter Morgan, Oilton, Okla.; Mrs. Roman Wheeler, Muskogee, Okla.; Mrs. A.M. Ford, deceased; Miss Anetta McDaniel, Baird, Texas; Virgil McDaniel, Sweetwater, Texas; Miss Alene McDaniel, Sweetwater, Texas; Andy Thurmond, deceased, Mrs. Frank Patterson, Carbon, Texas; Mrs. J.T. Elliott, Cisco, Texas; Mrs. Lockedy, Gorman, Texas; Carl McDaniel, Carbon, Texas; Ernest Tomme, Clebourne, Texas, Mrs. Q.Q. Elliott, Breckenridge, Texas; Marion Tomme, Clebourne, Texas; Eugene Cox, Roy Cox and Lucille Cox, all of Hooker, Okla.; Mrs. Laura Thomas, Comanche, Okla.; Harry Hunton, Artesia, N.M.; Robert Hunton, Santa Fe, N.M.; Mrs. Charles F.
