Mitchell McNeil, 65 of Stringer, MS, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his residence in Stringer, MS. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Colonial Chapel in Bay Springs, MS. Burial was in Providence Cemetery. Dr. Dave Moran, Elder Josh King and Elder Mark Quarles officiated the services. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, MS was in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at Colonial Chapel .
He was a retired carpenter whose work can be seen troughout Jasper and surrounding counties. After retirement he could be found outside either gardening or on his tractor taking care of his farm. His pride and joy were his four grandchildren who he loved dearly. His faith in his savior was evident in his selflessness and desire to care for and help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George A. McNeil and Pauline Sykes McNeil, two brothers, Dennis Ray McNeil and George Burdette McNeil, and a sister, Margaret McNeil.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Myrick McNeil of Stringer, MS, his son, Chris McNeil and wife Stacey of Louin, MS and his daughter, Patricia King and husband Justin of Stringer, MS, two brothers, Edison McNeil of Bay Springs, and Vinson McNeil of Raleigh, two sisters, Kathy Pugh of Louin and Cindy Bass of Mize, and four grandchildren, Abby Grace McNeil and Tate McNeil of Louin, and Reece King and Emma King of Stringer.
Pallbearers for the service are Nick McNeil, Jamie Pugh, Michael Myrick, Edward Myrick, Chad Myrick, Collin Myrick, Jimmy Parker, Caleb Bass, and Robbie Sykes. Honorary pallbearers are Tate McNeil and Reece King.
