Mona Ruth Holland
Mona Ruth Gann Holland, 89, passed away on April 20, 2009. She was born on March 27, 1920 to Jewel Raymond and Hattie Leona Gann in Venus, Texas. During mid-life she want back to Del Mar College and earned her nursing degree as a licensed vocational nurse making one of the highest scores on her state board exam. She was a charter member of Parkside Church of God and was the resident nurse for Camp Amigo in Mathis, Texas for twenty years.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Holland; a sister, Juanita Woodson; two brothers, Jewel Raymond Gann, Jr. and Carl Douglas Gann.
Survivors include her daughter, Bobbie Ruth Griffith of Texas; her son, David Holland (Janell) of Kilgore, Texas; five grandchildren: Mark G. Griffith of San Diego, California, Robert Lee Griffith of Buffalo Gap, Texas, Amy Henderson of Tatum, Texas, Dee Ann Huey of Longview, Texas, Troy Don Holland of Colorado, ten great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ila Gann of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2009 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
We wish to thank the many friends and employees, Carmen, Mary Jane, Jose, Sara, and each and everyone at Alameda Oaks for the care of our mom.
