Funeral services for Monroe Dwight Arender, 62, Hughes Springs, Texas formerly of Monroe, La. will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday May 5, 2004 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, La. Burial with Masonic graveside services will be at 3:00 PM at the Fairfield Cemetery near Dry Prong, La.

Mr. Arender died May 1, 2004 in Hughes Springs, Texas. He was a graduate of Dry Prong High School, he received his B.A. degree in Business and M.A. degree in History from Northeast Louisiana University. He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran serving in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Berlin Crisis. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Dee Strickland Masonic Lodge # 465. He was a carpenter in the residential construction business. He really enjoyed genealogy, the studying of his family tree and sharing this information with others, as well as playing his guitar and listening to country music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe Franklin and Nadine Sutton Arender.

Survivors: Son, Todd Arender and wife, Penny of West Monroe, La., Daughters, Laura A. Hill and husband, Dennis of Hughes Springs, Tx., Amy A. Howard and husband, Marshall of West Monroe, Mandy A. Westmoreland and husband, Shane of Hughes Springs, Tx.; Grandchildren, Devon Arender, Victoria Arender, Trevor Arender, Taylor O'Dell, Dakota Howard, Macy O'Dell, Jade Hill, Drake Hill; step-grandchildren, Rachel Redding and Ryne Redding; Brothers, Frank Arender, Doyle Arender, Loyde Arender and Steve Arender; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends

Pallbearers will be Glenn Jordan, T. P. Bethea, James R. Walters, Chalmis V. Williams, Billy Hammons and Gilmer Lee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doyle Nelson, Patrick Arender, Brian Arender, Dennis Hill, Marshall Howard and Shane Westmoreland.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
