Monya Traylor Tate
(July 22, 1947 - April 3, 2014)

Monya “Traylor” Tate 66 of Summit died April 3, 2014 at her residence.

Visitation will be Friday evening at Jones Funeral Home from 5 until 8 PM and Saturday from 12 until services at 2PM in the Jones Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit. Dr. Jimmy Porter and Connie Felter will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Jeff, Dale and Walker Tate, Treyce Felter, Rick Hewitt and Jeff Lanier. Honorary pall bearers are Phillip King and Cassells Wilson.

Mrs. Tate was born on July 22, 1947 in Monroe, LA to Robert Traylor and Juanita Green Traylor. She graduated from Southwest Jr. College and attended the Gilforth School of Nursing in Jackson. She worked for John H. “Bubba” White as a legal secretary from many years. She also worked for the Vince Woodcock Insurance Agency for several years. She was a homemaker and a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church. She loved to travel and visit plantation homes. Her favorite hobby was being a wonderful “Nana” to her six grandchildren.

Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her husband of 47 years Jehu Elwin Tate of Summit; two daughters Patricia Bullock and her husband Donald of Caddo Mills, TX; Pamela Harkins and her husband Patrick; one son Jason Elwin Tate and his wife Lori of Summit; one brother Robert Glend Traylor and his wife Kristi of Grandbury, TX; six grandchildren Myranda and Kayce Bullock, Sabrina and Thomas Harkins, Jackson and James Ethan Tate; numerous other special family and friends.
