Moody R. Purvis

MORTON -- Moody R. Purvis, 83, died early Sunday morning at Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson after a short illness.

Services: 1:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. Burial: Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson under the direction of Ott and Lee Funeral Home.

Mr. Purvis is survived by his wife, Mrs. S. A. Denson Purvis, two daughters, Mrs. Jeryl Hurley of Clinton, and Mrs. Franklin (Gloria) Carter of Jackson; a sister, Miss Madge Purvis of Jackson; and six grandchildren.

A native of Smith County, he had lived in the Morton area most of his life. Mr. Purvis, retired hardware store manager for Jack Stuart Co. of Morton was a veteran of World War I and a member and lifetime deacon of the First Baptist Church of Morton.
