Mr. Moses Lee Johnson

Benson, NC -- Mr. Moses Lee Johnson, age 91, died Saturday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Graveside Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Monday at Lee-Johnson Family Cemetery in Dunn. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Capps.

Mr. Johnson was born on March 29, 1919 in Johnston County to the late James Mansey and Vara Lee Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Bryan Johnson; Brothers, J. Marvin Johnson, Alsey B. Johnson, Robert Johnson and Clyde Johnson; and Sisters, Matilda Langdon and Pauline Barrett. Mr. Johnson served as a welder in the U. S. Navy during World War II and was a member of American Legion Banner Post 109. In 1956, Mr. Johnson built a motel in Lebanon, Kansas, which was located in the exact center of the US. At this location, a memorial was erected by the U. S. Geographical Center to honor this motel. He was a farmer of many crops, but he predominately raised cotton. Mr. Johnson was a welder and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Surviving are Daughter, Marilee H. Johnson and Husband, Jeffrey M. Barghout of Raleigh; Granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Barghout; Sisters, Edna Earl Bryan of Winston-Salem and Marjorie J. Johnson of Four Oaks; and Brother, Dr. Clemuel M. Johnson of Elizabethtown.

Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson Monday from 9:30AM to 10:30AM prior to the graveside service.
