Murle W. Emmons, Winn Native, Dies; Burial November 3

Funeral services for Murle Walker Emmons, 47, of New Orleans were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Dodson Baptist Church with Rev. C. B. Ellis officiating. Burial was in the Transport Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Emmons, a native of Winn Parish, died suddenly Nov. 2, 1965 in Jackson, Miss. He was a geologist for Pan American Oil Co.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Taylor Emmons of New Orleans; his mother, Lula Walker Emmons of Dodson; two brothers, Jackson Emmons, a Jonesboro lawyer, and Morrelle Emmons of Ruston, Lincoln Parish school superintendent; and two sisters, Mavis E. Bickley of Bastrop and Laverne E. Pyburn of Ruston.

Pallbearers were Paul Gaar, Grover Jeter, Reubin Simpkins, Clayton Norred, Pete Simmons, and Harley Womack.
