Murvel C. Corley

Services for Murvel C. Corley, 91, of Garrison will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Garrison Funeral Home Chapel, Garrison, with Bro. S.A. Arrington minister, East Main Church of Christ, Nacogdoches, and Bro. John McGuire, pastor, First Baptist Church, Garrison, officiating. Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery, Garrison.

Mr. Corley was born Jan. 28, 1916, in Nacogdoches County and died March 2, 2007, in Garrison Nursing Home in Garrison. Mr. Corley's first job was as an automobile mechanic with West Falls Garage in Garrison. He worked for a number of years for the Ford Motor Company in Nacogdoches, and operated his own garage for a period of time. He also worked for the Texas Forest Service, drove a propane truck and was a poultry grower. In his younger years, he worked in the shipyards of Orange.

Survivors: wife, Charlotte Corley; sons, Wayne Corley, Gary Corley; daughter, Martha Ann Royall; brother, Sonny Corley; half-brothers, Gerald Don Corley, Bobby Corley; sisters, Ives Mae Porterfield, Gladys Pearl Edmonds; half-sister, Billie Jean Skelton; four grandchildren; six stepchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Garrison Funeral Home.
