M. G. MANLEY
Funeral services for M. G. Manley, resident of Lawrence from 1887 to 1915 who died at Pomona, Cal., Thursday morning, will be held Tuesday morning from the Plymouth Congregational church at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Alfred Grey will have charge of the services.
M. G. Manley was born August 23, 1844, on a farm near Clarinden [sic Claridon], Ohio. He was a son of pioneer parents in northern Ohio, his mother being the first white girl born in that locality.
Leaving Ohio in 1880, Mr. Manley moved to Rich Hill, Mo., where he remained until 1887, coming to Lawrence in that year.
His first wife, Mrs. Laura P. Manley died in 1910. After moving to California in 1915, Mr. Manley married again. His second wife, Mrs. Lucille Manley, and a son, R. C. Manley of Lawrence, survive him.
Burial will be held in Oak Hill cemetery in the improvement and beautifying of which he was greatly interested.
Because of his great interest and work in Plymouth Congregational church the pall bearers have been chosen from members of that church. They are: Judge Hugh Means, L. N. Lewis, Dr. George A. Esterly, Charles Elwell, A. D. Weaver, and F. H. Smithmeyer.
Mr. Manley was an active member of the Masonic order. At one time he was Eminent Commander of the De Molay commandery of the Knights Templar. He maintained his membership in Lawrence Lodge No. 6. The Masonic service will be held at the grave.
