MYRTIS B. WHITTINGTON DIES

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at Royal Chapel Church in Gloster for Myrtis B. Whittington, of Gloster. Rev. Harold Jackson officiated.

Mrs. Whittington died Wednesday, June 21, 1989 in Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville. She was born February 21, 1900 in Amite County the daughter of Thomas Steve Bass and Laura Elizabeth May Bass, both deceased. She was a member of Royal Chapel Methodist-Protestant Church and a housewife.

Survivors include five sons: Gordie Whittington, Linus Whittington, both of Gloster, Robert Whittington, Baton Rouge, La., Virgil Allen Whittington, Crosby, Harrell Whittington, Greenville, S.C.; three daughters: Virgie Mae Etheridge, Thelma Etheridge and Francis Mitchell, all of Gloster; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her husband, Pearl Whittington; a son, Richard Whittington, 2 grandsons, and one granddaughter.

Burial was in Roseland Cemeter [sic] in Gloster, with Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
