Myrtis Marie Gaar
Services for Myrtis Marie Gaar will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003, in Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield with Bishop Loy Gaar and Rev. Bill Strawbridge officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery at Dodson under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home.
Mrs. Gaar, age 93, of Dodson died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, in the Winn Parish Medical Center in Winnfield.
She was a native of Sikes and had resided in Gaarsmill for 78 years. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church. She worked at Dodson High School and retired from Tremont Lumber Company.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy V. Gaar, two sons, Earl D. Gaar of Bernice and James R. Gaar of Tulsa, Okla. and daughter-in-law, Betty Jo Gaar of Winnfield.
Survivors include two sons, Jack G. Gaar of Winnfield and Don R. Gaar and his wife, Clare, of Portland, Texas two daughters-in-law, Bobbie Sue Gaar of Monroe and Eloyce Gaar of Denver, Colo. seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to New Hope Cemetery Fund or New Hope United Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice.
