Myrtis Batson
Graveside services for Myrtis Aline Batson, 87 of Columbia, will be held 2 PM Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Cross Roads Cemetery in Grayson with Bro. Floyd Duchesne officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-9 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Myrtis was born June 4, 1924 to Holmes and Gertrude Bratton Dunn in Clarks and she passed from this life on December 13, 2011 at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia.
She was a Registered Nurse. She loved taking care of people and she loved flowers. She was preceded in death her husband: Sidney W. Batson; her parents.
She is survived by two sons: Turner ``Butch'' Hodges of Acworth, GA; Billy Joe Batson of Grayson; step-daughter: Nina Jean; step-son: David W. Batson; four sisters: Clotile Phillips, Rachel Cruse, Ethel Dodson, and Kay Ellerbee; half-sister: Patricia Barnhill; two grandchildren: Francis A. Kelsey and Chad Batson.
