Myrtis Mims Garrard
Mrs. Myrtis Mims Garrard, 79, of Winona, died of heart failure Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Garrard, a homemaker, was a member of Winona Church of God. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Mims. Mrs. Garrard was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Eugene Garrard.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at First Baptist Church of Winona with the Rev. Danny Jackson officiating assisted by the Rev. John L. Walker. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Winona.
Mrs. Garrard is survived by her husband, the Rev. Sam G. Garrard of Winona; two daughters, Patricia Garrard Howard of French Camp, Anita Garrard Walters of Winona; two sons, Sam G. Garrard Jr. of Henderson, Nev., Gary Garrard of Rogers, Ark.; one sister, Minnie Lee Com of Elan College, N.C., two brothers, John Mims of Zenia, Ohio, James Mims of Carrollton; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Kenneth Mims Troy Mims Jr., George Mims, Sonny Jones, Russell Jones, and Charles Mims.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. William Middleton, J.W. Mims, Marvin Mims, and Gordon Lackey.

Oliver Funeral Home of Winona was in charge of arrangements.
