Myrtis Olivia Sharman Lester
LESTER, MYRTIS OLIVIA SHARMAN, was born in Dobson [sic Dodson], LA on May 27, 1916 and died on March 15, 2008. She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech in Ruston. She was a member of the Downtown Baptist Church, formerly the First Baptist Church of Orlando. She taught Sunday School to four year olds for 25 years. She served on the church building and decorating committee when the new sanctuary was built. She was a member of Sorosis of Orlando, Orlando Garden Club, D.A.W.P. Garden Club, and the National Society of Magna Charta Dames. Her hobbies were collecting antiques, sea shells on Sanibel and Captiva Island, and helping her husband cultivate
camellias.
She was on staff at Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly for two summers during college. There she met Ralph Lester. They married and moved to Miami in 1937. They had three children, Lane, Sara, and Sharman. They lived in Orlando on Lake Davis for most of their married life. Her vocation was a homemaker and full time mother. Her husband died in 1990. They were married 53 years. She moved to Westminster Towers in 1997. There she met Fred Lemke, the last love of her life. He preceded her in death.

Lester is survived by three children, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Her son, Lane Lester and his wife Gail, her daughter Sara Martin and her husband Bob, and her daughter Sharman Hughes and her husband Rob. Grandchildren, Kenneth Lester and his wife Diana, Lee Ann Floyd, Jennifer Benson and her husband Jon, Glen Martin and his wife Diane, Eric Martin and Marcella, Laurie Teimer and her husband Tom, and Tammie Taylor. Great grandchildren, Brittney and Kathryn Floyd, Jordan Teimer, and Alyssa and Olivia Martin.
Memorial Services will be held in the chapel at CAREY HAND COLONIAL FUNERAL HOME, 2811 East Curry Ford Road, Orlando at 2PM on Thursday, March 20th, phone 407-898-2561.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice or Downtown Baptist Church of Orlando.
