Myrtle L. Moak

Myrtle L. Moak, 86, of Summit, died Oct. 31, 2003, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Visitation continues noon today until services at 2 p.m. at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb. The Rev. Tom Burris and the Rev. Dennis Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery in Lincoln County.

Mrs. Moak was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Lincoln County. She was the daughter of the late Julius and Nellie Mae Freeman.

She was retired from Kellwood Industries, where she worked as a seamstress for 30 years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Summit, where she was a member of the Sunshine Sisters Sunday school class and was also a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of W.M.U.

Her family said she loved to knit, quilt and crochet. She also liked to work in her yard, especially to grow flowers. She was always lending a helping hand and an ear to everybody she met.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Marvin Z. Moak Sr., and a baby sister, Annie Freeman.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Marlin and Tamara Moak of Summit, and Marvin Z. Moak Jr. and Dottie Moak of Raymond; three sisters, Jessie B. Hunt of Natchez, Bessie Mae Cutrer of McComb, and Dorothy Yates and her husband, Edward, of McComb; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, A.R. ``Pete'' and Mildred Bardwell of McComb; a brother-in-law and his wife, Carlos and Gladys Moak; a sister-in-law, Anna Bell Moak; grandchildren, Marvin E. and Leslie Moak of Raymond, Pete Moak of Edwards, Lonnie R. Moak of McComb and Brandon Moak of Summit; a great-grandson, Marvin Tyler Moak of Raymond, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, family and church members.
