SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Myrtle Dunn Sanders “Mrs. Henry Arnold Sanders” will be held at Osborn Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Bryan Dauphin of Summer Grove United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Centuries Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 8, 2002, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Sanders passed away at her residence on Thursday, February 7, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 7, 1916 in Kelly, Louisiana, the oldest of 11 children and spent her early life in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. Mrs. Sanders for many years owned and operated her own beauty salon in Shreveport. After the death of her husband, she joined her daughter at her business The Bridal Gallery serving as a bridal consultant. Mrs. Sanders was an active member of Summer Grove United Methodist Church and the UMW from which she received her 85 year pin in December 2001.
Mrs. Sanders will be remembered as a very loving, caring, kind and compassionate person and a wonderful cook for which she took great joy and pride in preparing Sunday lunch for her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia “Pat” Johnson, son-in-law, Patrick “Pat” Johnson; grandsons, J. P. “Jay” Johnson, Jr. and wife, Lisa, Keith S. Johnson all of Shreveport and Mark Johnson of Dallas, Tx.; great grandchildren, Christopher Trey Johnson, Brandon Keith Johnson, Brittany Nicole Johnson and Sarah Elizabeth Johnson; brothers, Merlon “Monk” Dunn and wife, Caroline of Shreveport, Billy Dunn of Columbia, La., Johnny Johnston and wife, Rita of Atlanta, Tx.; sisters, Geraldine Sherman and husband, Jim of Columbia, La., Amanda Dannehl and husband, Dennis of Columbia, La., Marilyn Fore and husband, Roy of Pineville, La., Katherine Willis of Monroe, La., and Nelda Linn of McKinney, Tx.; two sisters-in-law, Juanita Murphy Dunn of Monroe, La., and Jimmie Sanders Aycock of Ruston, La.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Arnold Sanders; father, Creston Dunn; mother, Rowena Hanchey Dunn, step-mother, Eula Dunn; and brothers, Rupert Dunn and Curtis Dunn.
Pallbearers will be Richard Dunn, David Dunn, Jay Johnson, Keith Johnson, Mark Johnson, Trey Johnson and Brandon Johnson.
Memorials may be made to Summit Grove United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
