MYRTLE EMMONS
1905-1993

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Emmons, 88, of Fair Play Community were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 1993, at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Buddy Renean, Rev. John Wiles, Rev. Gary Wheeler and Rev. E.J. Adams officiated. Interment followed in Waldrop Cemetery near Fair Play Community. Mrs. Emmons died Tuesday, July 13, at Panola General Hospital of natural causes.

Born on May 13, 1905 in Hunt County, Texas, she was the daughter of William Lesley and Emma Jean Turner Scarborough. Mrs. Emmons was a homemaker and had lived in Panola County most of her life. She was a member of the Pentecostal Christian Fellowship of Henderson.

Mrs. Emmons is survived by her husband, Mr. Virgel Emmons of Fair Play Community; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Billy G. Emmons, and Johnny H. and Peggy Emmons, all of Fair Play; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Nelva Jean Wallace and Mary Joyce and Art Mixon, both of Henderson, and Juanita and Conway LaGrone, and Jo Nell LaGrone and Jimmy LaGrone, all of Deadwood Community; two brothers, Floyd and Weldon Scarborough, both of Henderson; two sisters, Ethel Perminter of Beckville and Clara Allred of Henderson; 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jessie Wallace, Joe Wallace, Dale LaGrone, Paul Harvey Emmons, George Matheny and Lynn Emmons.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Jimmy LaGrone, Conway LaGrone, Arthur Mixon and J.B. Dorsey.
