Myrtle (Wilson) Black

Graveside services for Myrtle (Wilson) Black, age 96, will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Stutes officiating.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2002 at Metcalf Funeral Home.

Mrs. Black was born November 29, 1905 in Springhill, Louisiana (the fifth of ten children) to Benjamin and Marybelle Wilson and passed away February 3, 2002 in Humble, Texas. She was married to H.H. Black on May 17, 1924. Mrs. Black was a longtime resident of Conroe and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Conroe.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Marybelle Wilson; husband, H.H. Black in 1968; five sisters, and three brothers; son-in-law, Milton Speer; grandson-in-law, Dale Carney and great grandson, Russell Speer.

She is survived by her son, Howard Black and wife, Bobbie Ann of Rockport, Texas; daughter, Dorothy Speer of Humble, Texas; sister, Una Lee Mize of Springhill, Louisiana; grandchildren, Dianne Ivy and husband, Larry of Austin, Texas; Douglas Speer and wife, Cari of Janesville, Wisconsin; Donna Carney of Humble, Texas; Joe Black and wife, Amy of Corpus Christi, Texas and nine great grandchildren.
