White Oak

Nancy Flora Yates, 99, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee and 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at White Oak Baptist Church. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with interment in White Oak Cemetery.

Mrs. Yates was born September 21, 1906, in Simpson county but lived in the White Oak and Polkville areas most of her life. She was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.

Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert D. Yates, a son, Billy Ray Yates, and a grandson, Samuel Thomas Yates, Jr.; her parents, Noll and Letha Arender; a brother, Robert Sampson; two sisters, Versie James and Vavis James.

Survivors include two sons; Robert Yates and his wife, Alice, of White Oak, Samuel Thomas Yates and his wife, Ruby of Jackson; two daughters, Mattie D. Hampton and her husband D.W. of Richland and Jane Carr and her husband, Gerald, of Pearl; a daughter-in-law, Nell Yates of Decatur; two brothers, Luther Arender of Polkville and Wayne Arender and his wife, Laura of Vicksburg; three sisters, Irene Calhoun, Jimmy Lee Patrick and her husband Troyce of Puckett and Earlene Gray of Mendenhall; five grandsons, Wade Hampton of Aurora, Colo., Mickey Hampton of Madison, Mike Carr of Canton, Georgia, Johnny Carr of Birmingham, Ala., and Tony Carr of Pearl; six granddaughters; Linda Thornton of Palestine, Texas, Janet Parker of Denton, Texas, Nan Hipp of Crossett, Ark., Robin Webb of Jackson, Kathy Yates of Brookhaven, and Becky Yelverton of Decatur; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
