DRY PRONG -- Services for Nancy Arender Richards will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Dry Prong Cemetery under direction of Hixson Bros., Alexandria.
Mrs. Richards, 82, of Alexandria died at 9:25 p.m. Monday in Rapides General Hospital, Alexandria.
She was a native of Smith County, Miss., and a former Dry Prong resident. She was a dietician for Central Louisiana State Hospital.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught primary grades, and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a member of the Grant Parish Demonstration Club and served as its president. She was a volunteer at Friendship House and was a member of the Golden Star No. 73 Order of the Eastern Star. She was the first woman to serve on the Dry Prong Town Council.
She was the widow of James Clinton Richards.
Survivors include two sons, Harold R. Richards of Dry Prong and James C. “Jim” Richards of Pineville; one daughter, Florine Richards Letlow of Rayville; one brother, Barney Arender of Slidell; one sister, Lois Drain of Hattiesburg, Miss., and 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
