COLUMBUS, GA -- Nancy Sumner Pope, 62, of Columbus, died at her residence Thursday, March 10. A private memorial will be held at a later date according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road.

Mrs. Pope was born October 23, 1942 in West Blocton, Ala., daughter of the late James A. Sumner and Rasie May Hayes Sumner. She was the office manager/owner of Pope's Appliance.

Survivors include her husband of forty-five years, Jerry Pope of Columbus; three children, James Pope, Sr. of Columbus, Lisa Garcia of Pensacola, Fla., and Steven S. Pope, Sr. of Columbus; three sisters, Jean Baisden of Pensacola, Shirley McCart and Joyce Morrow both of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, James Pope, Jr. and his wife, Ditas, William S. Garcia, Jerry M. Garcia, Debra L. Garcia, Ashley L. Garcia, Crystal A. Clawson and Steven S. Pope, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer all of Columbus; two great-grandchildren, Christopher J. Garcia and Zackary M. Pope both of Columbus.
