Nathan Humphries

Funeral services for Nathan Humphries, 71, Winnsboro were held Monday at Temple Baptist Church in Winnsboro with Dr. J. Alan Miller and the Rev. William Busby officiating.

Burial followed at Oak Grove Church Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro.

Mr. Humphries was born December 9, 1930 in Franklin Parish and died Saturday, March 30, 2002 at Franklin Medical Center. He was a deacon and active member of Temple Baptist church and was a retired business instructor at Northeast La. Technical College in Winnsboro. He was active in youth sports in Winnsboro.

Mr. Humphries was preceded in death by his parents, George Christian and Florence Humphries; and three brothers, Tommy, Clyde and Billy Humphries.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Bettye Jo Humphries; two children, Joanna and Tiger Hutchinson, Delhi; Lowell and Tammy Humphries, Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Meagan, Logan, Jordan, and Austin Hutchison and Cain Humphries; one sister, Margie Nell Wiggins, West Monroe; two brothers, Edward Humphries and Calvin Humphries, both of Winnsboro; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were John A. Cuny, Clifton Davis, J. L. Hendrix, Winton Lofton, Clifton Lord, and Marlin Valentine.
