Winn Native Drowns In Texas; Rites Monday

Neal E. Lawrence, 62, of Texas City, Texas, drowned Friday, July 19, 1968 while on a fishing trip on the Trinity River.

Mr. Lawrence was a native of Winn Parish.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rosa Lawrence of Texas City; two stepsons, Donald Talbott of Natchitoches and Billy Talbott of Vivian; a stepdaughter, Ms. Betty Coon of Texas City; a brother, Aubrey Lawrence of Columbia; five sisters, Mrs. Annie McGuire, Mrs. Ellen Beard, and Mrs. Lavelle Williams, all of Winnfield; Mrs. Grace McKenzie and Mrs. Thelma Johns, both of Monroe; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Southern Funeral Home at Winnfield by Rev. Ray Bratton and Brother Bill Anderson. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery near Winnfield.
